THE ROAD TO UNIFICATION OF THE SERBIAN FREEMASONS
The process of the unification of the parallel Masonic organizations in the same countries goes slowly or often doesn’t go at all for various reasons – most often because of the misunderstanding of the basic Masonic principles and the importance of the unity, but also because of personal rivalry and passions. Serbian Masonry suffers from the same issues, with those proposing and initiating unification being attacked and their proposals undermined. This is the case with UGLS and their leadership, the main supporters of the idea of unification of several regular Masonic organizations, now split and fragmented.
We should not forget that UGLS was founded in 2006 based on the very same idea of unification and this is the basic motivational postulate of its existence and activity. Those who represent Freemasonry in Serbia should be guided with this idea, because it is their Masonic obligation to look for the ways to unite all Serbian Masons for the benefit of our Brotherhood, instead of looking for reasons to deny and distance from each other.
Having in mind the ideas of Freemasonry, basic principles and tenets, and for the benefit of the worldwide Brotherhood in general, and for Serbian Freemasonry and society in particular, PGM of the UGLG MW Bro. Alfred Koska, and PGM of the UGLS. MW Bro. Vladimir S. Markovic, with the aim to help the process of unification and kindle conditions for start of the dialogue between various Masonic organizations in Serbia, came up with the proposal draft of the Declaration of Unification of the Freemasons in Serbia. By all means, this initiative is subject for discussion between Serbian Freemasons and various Masonic bodies, and the proposers of this Declaration wish them all the best in their work and advancement in Freemasonry.
